30 Weeks

Today is a momentous occasion! I am 30 weeks- 3/4ths of the way done with the pregnancy. This is where things get interesting.

Baby Drake is growing right along and weighs about 3 lbs and is about 15.7 inches long from crown to rump! Weighing roughly the same as a head of cabbage, it's no wonder the little kicks and punches are getting more forceful.

What I’m excited about/looking forward to: We are in the home stretch now! Hope these ten weeks go really fast!

Symptoms: Hips hurting and some swelling. This is alleviated though with movement and lots of Tylenol. Lots of heartburn, including things that normally don't give heartburn, like milk (!!)

Food cravings: Subway! Sandwiches, chicken, mostly good for me things.

Gender: Baby Drake is a boy!

Sleep: Not as restful, but still get plenty of it.

Labor Signs: Nope!

Belly Button in or out? Halfway in between. Super shallow now. I can actually see it shifting.

What I miss: Personal grooming "down there" and also bending over.

Milestones: 30 Weeks is a huge milestone! We are officially in the last 25% of pregnancy now! Hard to believe! It honestly feels like we just got pregnant.

The Bump (My Lovely Baby Bump!)

Previously: 24 Weeks/6 Months

Currently: 30 Weeks/7.5 Months

Brian's grandma, aunt and cousin saw us today and were remarking on how tiny my baby bump actually is! Sweet of them to say! PS That is the tunic from Old Navy. I practically live in this thing!

What do you guys think? Am I glowing? :)

Just 10 weeks/2.5 months left to go! Did anyone else know that pregnancy is really about 10 months long? Me either...

Milestones: C25K Day 1

I just thought I would update you all on how awesome I am. I decided right after I posted the last blog that I would, indeed, stick to my original plan of going for a run today. Since Brian left for work, I decided to hit up our fitness center and get on the elliptical. I knew that no one would be there, because no one uses this fitness center.

I walked over and jumped (literally!) on the elliptical and started up Couch 2 5K (C25K) Day 1. Now I had done C25K on my bike before, but I haven't completed it on the elliptical.

I decided that today, I would. Today was going to be MY DAY. I was going to prove to myself that "my bad ankle" is a crutch I use; that I am capable of anything I want to do; that the only thing stopping me is me. I was not going to let my head games win.

I started off with the 5 minute warm up and knocked out a quarter mile. I started alternating the running and walking, following the prompts. Run 60 seconds, walk 90 seconds. Repeat 8 more times. My average strides per minute while walking was 45-50, and my average while running was 90-120, so I was definitely giving it my all.

Since I was the only one there, I didn't have to worry about mouth breathing, grunting, panting, or crying out loud. I kept saying out loud "Just keep going. Just keep going." I listened to upbeat songs on the runs, and I pushed myself hard.

When I finished the last run, I topped out at 125 strides per minute, and my heart rate peaked at 176- almost in the redline zone, but not quite.

And I didn't finish the whole cool down because I wanted to snag this video of me.

You'll have to excuse the whispering, as someone was coming in the gym and I didn't want to sound like an idiot talking to myself.

But basically- it's me going "Look guys! I did it! 3.5 miles in 27 minutes! *heavy breathing* I'll see you guys later!"

Sweaty and hot. In that order.
Check out my bitchin' glutes! And I love how my Enell supported me the whole time- I actually forgot that I had boobs! If you can believe that...

Anyway! Tomorrow I am going to do some strength training and alternate every day between that and C25K come the wedding in July, I will be a BEAST

Days Go By

Well it is officially Tuesday now. The day before the weigh.

Not that that *really* matters, since I weigh myself every day.

Today I forgot to weigh myself until after I ate breakfast and I was fully clothed. Normally I weigh myself naked. I am pretty sure this is normal.

The number on the scale surprised me, because I weighed 215.6 with clothes on. Without clothes, I weighed 214.5

I don't know about you, but that number makes me happy for a few reasons. 1) It means that naked I actually weigh less 2) That I have lost all the weight that I had gained and then some, and most importantly, I think 3) I am down 23.0 lbs since my highest weight ever. EVER. I guess it snuck up on me. Its hard to believe I have lost over that much, even though it took TWO years.

I never gave up (completely)
I was (somewhat) determined to make a change
I kept trying (half assed at least)

What does 23 pounds mean?

It means that I have lost 37% of the weight I wanted.
It means that I am only 2 lbs away from losing 25 lbs- no small amount of weight!
It means that I am doing this.

The last time that I weighed 214, I remember it. It was shortly after I was married- not more than two weeks, I would guess. I was taking a weight loss drug. An expensive one. $135 a month. It worked so well for a while, in as little as 6 weeks I lost 23 pounds. I was so proud of myself. I wasn't eating much at all, just once a day. I hadn't eaten anything at all the day I stepped on the scale
Shortly after, however, the pills quit working. The low carb lifestyle quit working, all I wanted was bread bread pasta bread and more pasta. I regained the weight. I was still depressed. I was not in my happy place.

Now, however- Life is great, its wonderful, its grand. It's everything I remember it being. And I don't feel that way because I lost weight, I lost weight because I feel this way. I have found what makes me happy (working! who knew!) I have a great husband, a supportive family (my mom eats all the peanut butter m&ms so I don't have to!) a nice apartment, a quiet life, and of course, Weight Watchers.

Its been nearly 17 months since I started this journey. That's an average of 510 days. I shudder to think of my weight if I had not gained control of it. I think I would weigh 510 pounds.
