Photos: How I Used to Be
I finally scanned some pictures of me! Sometimes I have a hard time continuing on my journey. After all, it really seems depressing when I think about the last 2.5 years and how I have not really lost a whole lot of weight. 18.5 pounds is not a lot to sneeze at in 730 days, you know what I am saying?
But then I look back at these pictures and I finally am seeing that I am a completely different person than I used to be.
Here I am in August 2006- 198 lbs. I felt so fat and gross here. Now I think I look pretty damn good. I also have a perm (ugh) which you can see peeking out from under the hat.
That's my best friend Kayla, who is getting married in July. We should wear these dresses!
Fast forward to December 2008- The night I graduated college.
I was so bent on making sure my engagement ring was showing. I don't think any one is going to notice it... I'm so round and blimpish here. I cry a little when I look at this picture.
Fast forward to May 2009- The cake cutting. Here I am, stuffed into size 16 jeans. They don't fit me now, so I don't know how I fit in them that day. I guess desperation? I wasn't fooling anyone that day except myself.

And another pic of the wedding day. When Brian saw this pic, he said "Damn! I was fat too!"

| happily married. |
Here I am over 2 years from my highest weight in 2008/2009 and still going strong despite all the set backs. I think I am looking pretty damn good. And while the scale is only showing 18.5 lbs lost, my body my smile my attitude is showing a totally different picture.
| In case you're wondering- size 16 dress pants. |
And that one is worth 1000 words.

ABC's of Me
It's a well known fact that I am a sucker for surveys and quizzes of any type.
The ABC's of Me:
Age of first gray hair: 23... At least I *think* it's grey hair. I found one on my head and one someplace a little more private...
Bed size: Queen. I love it
Chore I hate: Laundry, dishes, vacuuming... I hate it all
Dogs: Maxwell! I've always had a dog! whether it was Bobo the Yorkie, Barney the dalmatian, Goober the golden, or Maxwell the lab mix, I love dogs!!
Essential start of my day: An extra hour of sleep
Favorite color: Teal. It looks really good on me.
Gold or silver: I love both.
Height: 5'4" Shortest adult in the family.
Instruments I play: I used to 'play' the clarinet.
Job title: Customer care professional... but looking to change that very soon
Kids: No thanks. Not right now at least. Not even in the next 5 years.
Languages: English
Memory (favorite childhood): Swimming in the pool with my best friend and my parents. We would make waves and almost drown each other.
Never tried: Most fruit.
One Do-Over (if I could have just one): No regrets here!
Pet peeve: Grammar used to be a big one for me, but now it's mostly when people are passive-aggressive.
Quote from a movie: "Wee-ooo weee-ooo-wee-oooo" From Kung Pow: Enter the Fist. It cracks me up every time
Recurring Dream: That I am back in school and not married to Brian, but we are dating, and I can't get ahold of him and then finally he shows up and I ask him where he's been and he tells me that I shouldn't care because we arent together anymore... Usually only happens when I am stressed out about money. My other recurring dream is all my teeth fall out. Also when I am stressed. If I am not stressed, no recurring dreams.
Sisters: Nope. No brothers either. Unless you count my in-laws. Then, 2
TV Shows: I don't watch TV, but I love Mythbusters and Dirty Jobs. Mike Rowe is on my list... you know that list of celebs you would totally have sex with and it would be ok?
TV Shows I Have Never Watched - Lost or anything similar
Unable to stop: Digging in Minecraft! Damn you therapeutic digging!
Vegetable I dislike: all of them
Weirdest food I've eaten: Vegetables. Ha! No, it's seitan, which is delicious.
X-Files: Scares the crap out of me.
Yummy Food I make: Lasagna! It's everyone's favorite!
Zoo animal favorite: Ducks. I know that is more of a farm animal... but shush.

A Meh Day? Change to a ME Day!
The weather always makes me feel a little 'meh' especially when it is doing like it is today: Raining, bouncing around the lower 30's threatening to turn into freezing rain, cold, and uhm generally gross outside.
I had a few errands to do today and I did them. I also decided while I was out and about I would go tanning. Now, I am extremely pale. Years of sitting sedentary in front of screens has rendered my skin porcelain like.
I used to be so tan and tan so easily, but now, its a bit of a chore to get my skin to brown up. There was a great deal at our local tanning salon so I went for it. I get 2 weeks of unlimited (whatever that means?) tannin for $25 in any bed. Considering the regular beds are $9/pop, that's quite a deal.
I got in a 12 minute bed today (one of the super expensive ones- $12/pop) and I did 8 minutes, since I am a little see-thru, I figured that would be best.
Kayla's wedding is in July and her other bridesmaids are tanned thin goddesses who tower over roly poly me, so I figured its the least I can do to get a bit of a base color between now and then.
Also- This tanning bed had mirrors on the top of the bed, so when you were laying down you could look at yourself (Narcissism?) and it was the first time that I had ever seen myself naked, laying down. And you know what? I look pretty darn good, considering.
I definitely can finally tell that I am not who I was two years ago.
Need another example? For a snack, I am having sugar free jello with STRAWBERRIES. I know! I never eat fruit! What is going on!!
I feel so much happier with that 8 minutes of fake sunshine beaming down on me while I listened to tunes from the 90's. I need to go 2 more times to make it worth what I paid, but I have a feeling if the weather keeps up, I'll be going a lot more

It's All About Me
That's my theme this year. It's all about me. Things I am going to do to improve myself and my life (and thereby those around me.)
This year, my goals are to do things I normally don't. Such as getting up, getting dressed (nicely, if possible) and doing full hair and makeup, even if I am not going anywhere that day. Such as taking more pictures of myself. Such as taking pride in my home.
I also have other goals, like running that whole 4 mile race in September. Like wearing my orthotics EVERYDAY. Like trying spinning or taking a cardio boxing class.
This year is the YEAR OF THE CHRISTIE.
As if I need to be any more conceited.
Today I got up, and I put in my contacts, I styled my hair, and I put on my make up. I got dressed. I took not only one picture, but 15. Some of them didn't turn out, but a few did. Like this one
What do you think of my new hair? Previously, it looked like this:
Today, I tracked my breakfast. 1 cup of coffee with 2 T of hazelnut creamer, fake sugar, with 2 blueberry Eggo-knockoff waffles with 1 T of margarine, 1/4 cup of light syrup, and a bite of a Morningstar "sausage" link. The texture and the flavor of those links sucked. It was kind of mealy texture wise and the "sausage" seasoning was really only a back note, instead of a foreground player. It was also a little cold
All my breakfast was cold by the time I was done measuring it and tracking it. (10 whole points, in case you were wondering)
I haven't had lunch yet, I am about to eat my midday snack of string cheese. I think lunch will be baked chicken with 1/2 cup of fat free cottage cheese and 2/3 of a cup of Green Giant niblet corn. (also approximately 10 points)
I have no idea what will be for dinner tonight. Probably something else chicken related. Or maybe I will make Taco Bake with refried beans, rice, and ground turkey. That sounds pretty good to me too. I have no idea how many points that will be, either. I'll have to add it into WW and see what we come up with.
I also started "take pride in my home" by doing 6 loads of laundry, two loads of dishes, and cleaning our bedroom and putting our bed back on the slats so its off the ground, and we also rearranged our bedroom. When I say "we" I really mean "Brian moved it all while I ran around looking for a screwdriver"
We also got new lights for our bathroom. They are those stupid vanity-looking light fixtures that house multiple bulbs and they are the big stupid bulbs too. I tried putting a regular sized bulb in there and it wouldn't work. Dumb thing. But we replaced all of them and got the higher wattage ones so I could see better. Don't worry, I picked up the energy efficient ones! We replaced all our incandescents with the compact fluorescents (CFLs) that had a "natural" light feel to them too. And we bought a few extra lamps. It was starting to look like a cave in here! Now it looks like a light house. I won't have to worry about ships plowing into the side of our apartment building any more. Whew! Soon we are going to paint. Brian had this GREAT idea! We will take pictures of our apartment and then upload them into Photoshop and we will scan in those paint swatches and he will put them on our walls so we can see how it looks. And we will take the pics in a few different lighting conditions to see how we like it. Isn't that nifty?
Someday very soon, my progress blog. I promise!

About Me?
I'm an only child, rather spoiled really.
But not the bad spoiled. I have my own job, I make my own money, and I have my own apartment filled with my own things. I have a fiance and a butler, who is said fiance's brother. He lives with us too and cleans and pays his share of rent.
I work a 40-hr work week and make as much or more than my dad, fresh out of college as I am. My mom works all the time and makes a whole bunch more money than I do. But it's cool, because I get lots of neat gifts.
My fiance is an artist, a 3d modeler and animator, and he can do just about anything art related. His dream job is working for some game company somewhere and I know he'll find the one he wants, because I drive him to put together an awesome portfolio and resume.
We have a lot of friends we hang out with on weekends and our apartment is usually the crash-pad. Maybe it's because I make everyone awesome food.
For example, tonight is my "graduation party" and I am making a loaded baked potato bar (complete with sour cream, butter, bacon bits, broccoli, liquid cheese, shredded cheese and ground beef) two cheesecakes (one strawberry and the other raspberry) and an ice cream mud pie.
Did I mention they love my food?! lol.
I'm a curvaceous girl. I have a large chest and a big ass and a bit of a tummy.
The tummy bothers me so my mother and I entered a little "friendly" contest. Whoever loses the weight first, has to wear the other person's fat clothes. Hahah. My mom is the only person I can ever actively compete against because she's the only person I consider worth it to prove wrong.
So, it's on....bitch.
