Er, Okay?

Yesterday, someone knocked on the apartment door. I was in the bedroom, in the back of the apartment. I waddled to the door to see who it was.... but they were gone. Today, Brian got an email from the apartment office saying that "maintenance has placed your request to fix the dish washing machine on hold due to the following reason: unable to enter unit." WTF.

They knocked one time. And not a knock knock knock! but a Knock. Just one. And then they were gone.

Secondly, "not able to enter unit" my ass. The maintenance guys all have keys to the apartments. I know this because they have come in several times with our door locked before to fix things. So... wtf.

Did they just not want to fix our dishwasher or something? I told Brian to call and complain (because when a man complains, things get fixed faster) but so far, he's decided to hold off on it.

Our next door neighbors moved out so maintenance is all up in our building getting it ready for the next potential tenants. This includes a lot of hammering....which I can hear and it wakes me up. Bahhhhh fine. That's alright. I'm not sure what needs so much hammering (it goes on for hours!) but that's not the problem.

The problem is the toxic smell wafting in the hall way and permeating our apartment. Whatever they are using to clean the apartment is pretty... strong. Let's go with strong. I don't know if there is mold in that apartment or what, but if I can smell it inside my apartment, I really don't want to be in their apartment!

Combine weird chemical smell with our downstairs neighbor's love for cooking. I think he is making some sort of pork roast or something. On its own it would smell delicious (like all his dishes) but with the weird chemical aroma it makes it seem like some sort of science experiment about to go horribly wrong.

Ah, apartment life.

I'm glad I don't have to fix the dishwasher. And if they don't want to fix it, fine. I don't care. I don't mind that they are doing so much work on the building or the unit either. It means that they actually give a shit about the condition of the building when they work and scrub and freaking hammer for 6 hours straight.

I'm still not sure what that guy is hammering. Here's what it appears is happening in the apartment next door.

Guy #1: I'm just going to beat this hammer against random walls.
Guy #2: Good idea, meanwhile, I'll mix ammonia and bleach!
Guy 1: Yeah that should prove we are working hard.
Guy 2: Hmm what are all the fumes for?!?!
Guy 1: I can't hear you over my hammering.
Guy 2: No worries, it's cool.

Oh... interesting. This just in! Brian just got an email from the apartment. Our request to have our dishwasher fixed ...was completed! Hurray! Wait, what? Oh... Hmm. Apparently- they called my number twice and left me 2 voicemails. I neither have missed calls nor voice mails. Hahahah

I don't want it fixed. Just go away.

We'll Let You Know....

Interview didn't go so hot. "We'll let you know"

So I probably didn't get it.

Oh well.

Still have lots of jobs I applied to and I am sure that I will have at least one more interview with another company and hopefully one with the company I really want. More than anything. I was talking to Brian last night about how badly I wanted this one job and I started crying.

It's for the library. I have wanted to be a librarian for *years* I was a student librarian and it was the best job, ever. I applied once before to the county library and I had a fantastic interview, they loved me! I was perfect for the job... but they interviewed another chick who had a degree and she got the job. Not 2 weeks later, they found out she had a felony she hadn't reported and fired her. Then they were going to call me... but the library went on a hiring freeze.

I got shafted.

I have been trying to get in to the library again ever since. I am not giving up. I passed my skills test 100% this time. (Last year, I failed miserably, and the year before that I got 85%) Something just clicked this time. This is where I am supposed to be. I KNOW IT.

I will not give up. I even considered going back to school for this but I am not going to spend lots of money unless I can help it and I do not need any sort of degree for this current position- but I have one! So that should help. I hope.

Also I have family who work at the library. But its for a different branch and none of the family works at this branch I am applying to.

I will keep praying.

I am going to get in.

I can be very stubborn and bullheaded when I need to be and I think this is one of those times. I must not lose sight of my goal. If I don't get in this round, I'll apply to every single job they offer until I do get in and I can work my way up.

---------

I stepped on the scale today and I am up 1.8 lbs (hey thats what I weighed last week hmm) I've done 'meh' on tracking and I have done awful on exercising. I have decided that today I am hitting the elliptical no matter what, even if it kills me. I was losing fantastic when I was tracking and when I was exercising. The running thing really has been helping me. I get less tired going up 2 flights of stairs now. I need it.

I have been suffering horrible migraines for the last couple of days as well. I think it is from too much time in front of the computer and being tense in general. I am a little stressed out if I will get an interview (I would be devastated if I didn't) but I can't help it any. I have at least another week until I get a call from them.

------

We have friends coming up on Saturday (tomorrow, egads!!) and I hope that my puppy is very well behaved. I know he is a good dog and tries really hard not to go nuts when we have friends over. He just really loves people. I have been working on it with him and he is getting so much better. Poor Alisha though, was attacked by a dog when she was 8 and is now nervous around big dogs. Luckily my little fur ball is not very big. He's half lab, but he is also half the size of his uncle Goober and cousin Riley. I am going to take him to PetSmart today and see if his nails need trimmed. The last thing that needs to happen to this poor lady is to get accidentally scratched while Max is trying to show her he knows how to shake with both hands.

The house is getting a deep clean today and I am not looking forward to it, and looking forward to it simultaneously. I love a clean house but hate the actual work. If only I could hire a maid....Or teach max to wash dishes.

I have yammered and rambled on for far too long in this post. Thanks for listening.

See you all on the flip side.

Priorities

I'm sure you are just sick of my moving blogs, but to be honest, that's the only thing going on in my life right now.

I noticed that when you are moving, there are certain priorities that take place. First of all- comfortable clothes. Moving boxes, furniture, cleaning etc, requires a lot of effort and you can't stop unbutton your too tight jeans while your dad and husband are dismantling your Queen sized bed.

My solution? Grey stretch sweat pants and a t-shirt, with a pull over hooded sweatshirt for when it gets a little chilly.

Problem 2: When you got to go... you got to go. Running back and forth between two destinations, its important to be well prepared should nature call. No one wants to get caught with their pants down... literally.

My solution? A roll of toilet paper in the old place, in the new place, and one in the car. Just in case I happen to misplace one ;)

Problem 3: Laundry. Laundry is a pain at the best of times and moving is an absolute nightmare. After all, you are busy moving things, do you really need to stop being productive so you can get your clothes out of the dryer before they wrinkle?

My solution? Wear the same outfit for 4 days. Why? UH still moving shit! Unpacking! Why on earth would I want to do laundry when there is a mountain of boxes full of dishes, belongings, and knick-knacks that need to be put in their new homes!

Problem 4: Caffeine. You are going to need it. Lots of it.

My solution? Make a pot of coffee and drink the whole thing, by yourself, immediately. You will be beaming all day.

Problem 5: Dogs. Your dog may or may not freak out about a move. And he may or may not have been dropped off at the shelter when his last family moved and abandoned him. He is probably afraid you will do the same thing.

My solution? Have your dad come play with the puppy. If your dad is anything like my dad, it means he is a dog fanatic and will spend the day petting the dog and making up silly little nick names for him. Like "puppy wuppy woofy wuffy" and "dugal hound" Dad will also fill up your dog's Kong with peanut butter and become dog's new best friend.

Problem 6: Where to begin unpacking? You have successfully moved all your shit- I mean treasures- from point A to point B. Now what do you do? How do you begin?

My solution? Priorities. Figure out what you absolutely cannot live without for another moment. For me, it was my phone charger and a pillow. I seriously needed a nap. Then it was finding my toothbrush & etc, followed by bowls and spoons for cereal (and other bowl-meals) Today? I'm on a mission to find my hair brush. I know its somewhere around here but I have been too busy with other things to worry about the state of my hair.

I'm not worried about scaring the neighbors though. I'm not even sure we have neighbors, to be honest. I know that there are cars in the parking lot. I know that one of them has a yappy little dog. (I'm thinking Pekingese? Or something similar) And I know that some of them are smokers. I also know that they like music. But to be honest we haven't seen much of anyone. And we never see the same people twice! It's like the twilight zone. It's pretty damn awesome. I promise, pics of the new place are coming soon. I got all the pics of Alpha done. I just need to finish unpacking and then take pics of Beta. I am pretty excited to show you.

The next blog, however, (which is tomorrow, since it's weigh in day) is going to show case some now and then photos, like I promised forever ago.

I need to remember that even though I am only down 17.5 lbs from my highest weight of all time, I still look loads better.

Thursday will be the apartment comparison blog, as well as a recap of Disney on Ice

Friday is my first ever spin class. Tips? I'm sure I will die. I also have bridesmaid shopping at 4:30.

Moving: Unpacking

Moving is such a weird thing. First you pack all your belongings in boxes and tape them closed and write on the outside of the box a one-word summary of where things belong. "Kitchen" or "Office". Then you load up all your brown boxes and move them to your new place. You put them in the empty, respective rooms.

Then there is the furniture. Oh god, furniture. The bane of my existence, furniture. Moving that stuff sucks.

But we are finally all done with the move. We got up today to finish getting rid of all the trash and cleaning up. We found only a few more things that we simply couldnt live without, but mostly every thing got pitched.

We lived there for 2 and a half years and we had 12 bags of trash!!!

Craziness.

We've got it all unloaded and now we get to unpack it all. It's crazy. We havent told any of our new neighbors that we just moved from another building, and we are going to keep it that way.

So much unpacking to do at least things have slowed down now and we can relax.... Time for corn dogs!

Mirror World

Our new apartment is mirrored!

It's also full of color! (Beige is a color... )

Instead of living in a white box, it will be a beige box, and that box has new appliances, carpet, paint, and is completely mirrored.
And inverted.

Like the tile in this apartment bathrooms is an orange-y color. The tile in the new one is a green-y color

The shower rods are curved

The carpet is thick and lush

The apartment faces south, instead of east, and is away from the road.

It's on the third floor.

The keys are bigger!

Signed and Sealed

The new lease has been signed. Had to get a new one since we are going to a new building. Luckily the landlords are pretty nice (they like our dog- we have an 'in'!) and they kept our rent the same, even though the new building is about $30 a month more, so come September, well, we will be paying that. We also got our transfer fee waived, too. I got all the important things switched over: internet and electric. That will happen on the 5th so we have to be moved in completely by that day. Which isn't a problem. Also set up a change of address form online for the USPS- how freaking easy is that? You plug in your current addy, the new addy, and whether its for an individual or a family, and then set the date! They forward all the mail to the new address then.

Awesome. Also- it costs $1.
To transfer the cable, it costs us $25.
Nothing for the electric, and nothing for the apartment. So far, it's only cost us $26 to move.

We got free boxes from Brian's work.

Oh I take that back, I spent $30 on laundry detergent and some moving/cleaning supplies. All in all, its only cost a little bit of money. I will have to pay for new carpet though, which could be as much as $200 and as little as $100 so I've decided to sell a few things on eBay.

Hoping people buy it! I got a lot of watchers so I hope someone comes in last minute and snipes it! Or a bidding war. That would be most awesome.

On the cleaning front- I only did a few loads of laundry yesterday (probably what most households do in one day) and then I got a horrible migraine and had to lay down. I slept a few hours, but it still didn't go away. So I popped some asprin, and went back to sleep. Woke up feeling nauseous and the migraine moved behind my eyes, so it was impossible to turn on lights or look at my phone, or do anything. I just lay there and sobbed a while. Finally it went away. I am pretty sure it was a caffeine headache/food headache. I hadn't really eaten yesterday since I was so busy. But I had some tea and ate WW 3-cheese ziti marinara, and all was right in the world.

Brian's been recruited to work today but only for a few hours. Then we are going through the closets and throwing away everything that we dont want. I'm determined to have a smooth move with as little as possible. Just pretend I am on an episode of Clean House, only without the yardsale. Mayhem and foolishness! Everything that can go, will.
