Brian and Drake are recovering from stomach flu. The last two or three days have been hellish, to say the least.
But I do have good news. I just saved hundreds of dollars by switching to omg you thought I was serious.
Ok no really. Brian got in at General Motors and starts Monday! Yay! So far it's a temp position but we have a good feeling that it is going to be a permanent one this summer. So excited. Seems we have finally caught our big break.
And! I get to make his lunches every day!

Plug plug plug
So does anyone need some artwork done? We are broke ass hoes this month and need some extra cash to pay for things like groceries and what not so if you want a commission- contact my husband Brian at befarrar85 @ gmail dot com
He does fantastic work. And you support us! Yay!
Or if you want me to make you something- like a spring or summer shawl for church or the beach, heck yeah I'll make you something too.
Drake has been very cranky lately- not really a surprise considering he is still teething, pushing those canines up. Woof. Hard work.
Everyone getting ready for Easter? Brian and I decided that we are going to go to church with his family on Easter Sunday, which is a nice gesture for us to do. Brian's been wanting to get back into church for the support and the friends and I told him I really didn't mind going to church. I think it will be good for Drake too, to play with other children his age and I don't have to feel like a terrible parent.
Then we are doing Easter Dinner with my family, after church. Yay. It will be a lot of fun.
So once again, buy some art or something crocheted from me and give us the money to buy a little suit for my son to go romp around in. You can check out Brian's website here and my etsy store here.

Woot!
I'm down another pound, which is fantastic as it's shark week (hoo ha ha!) and that means that I am consuming everything in sight and nothing and no one is safe.
But that's great news.
Brian and one of my girl friends started talking and they decided that they are going to tag team me (not as fun as that sounds, actually.) My girl friend is going to force me to go to the gym with her and my husband is going to start being a real prick about my eating habits. Both of these things are needed, as I need the motivation to do better.
I also found my Shredding it with Weights dvd and started that today. Woohoo!
So measurements and stuff were taken.
I'll report back next Thurs on my findings.
Tomorrow is first hair cut for Drake and I'm going to see if I can rock a new do. :) I promise pics. PROMISE.

Bumps and Baskets
Drake's fever finally broke Tuesday morning. Which meant that he broke out in bumps. I thought it was hives or chicken pox. I was freaked out hard core. Can I let you in on a secret? I've never had chicken pox and I am terribly afraid of getting them. My uncle got them when he was in his early 20's and he was staying with us at the time, and he got really sick. I guess it's shingles when it's not a childhood disease.
Anyway, we did a lot of research on Google before losing our minds and I am glad that we did. Turns out its roseola, which is basically a fever rash. It's either viral or bacterial in nature and there isn't a cure for it, because it clears up on its own in 2-3 days. It usually follows a cold or flu, but can come on when a child has a fever for multiple days. When the rash appears, the fever has broken and although it looks terrifying, the worst is over. I called the doctor to make sure that is what it was, and they said that it sounds like that is what he has, but keep an eye on him to make sure that nothing else develops. So far, he's been back to normal. But he looks like he has the plague or something. Spots everywhere. On his hands and face and feet and legs, torso and back. Even his little butt and bits. Terrible.
The worst part is even though its not contagious and it doesn't itch, it gives me the heeby jeebies looking at it and I've been scratching and itching like crazy. I know it's all in my head though.
On to more pleasant news.
Today we got a package from UPS. Which is odd because I didn't order anything and it was addressed to Drake. Which is even odder, because I don't think Drake knows how to shop online (yet). Turns out that Brian's grandparents in Valpo sent Drake a present! Inside was an Easter basket filled with candy and a stuffed little bunny. Drake loved the bunny and even bit its butt so it's now initiated into the Brotherhood of the Bitten Butt Babies, a selective collection of stuffed animals that Drake abuses in all sorts of manners. There was dark, white, and milk chocolate bunnies and eggs, chocolated covered marshmallow eggs, Jelly Belly sour bunnies and all natural fruit jelly beans. It's a lot of delicious candy. Drake liked the marshmallow eggs the best. I split one with him and then he stole my half, running away laughing maniacally as he stuffed it into his mouth.
I snapped a few pics and emailed them to his grandma immediately with a thank you so I wouldn't forget. It was a nice surprise.
I've been working lots this week and even found time to do some laundry- including folding it and hanging it and putting it away. Who am I?? Speaking of which, my laundry's done, so I have to continue the good fight against clutter. Right now I am winning the battle, but losing the war. The tides are turning though. I think I will give an offering to Athena to see if she will bless me in battle. :)

Rough Week
Oh man, I have had a crazy rough week. Aside from a really awesome Saturday night with our married friends, it's just been one hell of a trip.
Wednesday Drake got a fever. This caused some alarm because my mom, dad, and grandma all had some version of the flu with a nasty cough, fevers, and chills. We thought maybe Drake had caught it, but we were not sure. He wasn't really acting sick. I thought he might be teething? But I couldn't feel anything coming in. He also was being pretty much a pain and would not let me put him down, even for a second. He would just cry and cry and cry.... and refused to sleep. I think he was up close to 18 hours straight, only passing out for 10 minutes at a time.
Thursday, he was better, but still had a fever. Again, we were thinking teething because he didn't have any other symptoms. He got a little sleep, but it was restless.
Friday I was seriously considering him to be really ill, either with a flu or an ear infection because the fever came on strong and didn't let up. He didn't eat much but was still downing lots of fluid, so we spent all day in the rocking chair.
He was magically better Saturday, and I was convinced it was teething, so we went out of town with him and we were doing alright except he was fussy, a bit warm, and we weren't at home so he was out of his element. He eventually passed out on the world's softest blanket in our friends' very cold bedroom, and we were all thankful for that.
Sunday, the fever came back with a vengeance and was nearly the HOLY HELL mark where you look at him and instantly can tell he is about to burn a hole through the floor he is so hot. Brian left for work and took the car, and we ran out of milk and baby ibuprofen, so it was a day from hell. His fever hit 103 and he refused to eat and drank only water, but even then you could tell that it was simply out of necessity and not any pleasure at all. He wailed during diaper changes, and he would throw himself on the floor rolling around tossing everything around. Screaming. Oh god the screaming.
It was seriously the worst day of my life.
Probably his too.
I took a short, 30 second video of him wailing and rolling around on the floor and sent it to my mom, saying WTF is this and how do I stop it?? We were clueless. He has NEVER acted like that.
I could not get him to quiet down. At one point I had to put in headphones and blare music in my ears whilst I bear-hugged him so he wouldn't throw himself out of my arms and rock him and go SHH SHH SHHH and that took 20 minutes for him to finally relax. He never fell asleep though. Did I mention I was out of my anti-depressants too so I was running low on happy juice?
Finally I got tired of it and he was so stressed out and needing a rest that I gave him 1 mL of NyQuil (the same dosage of ibuprofen that he normally gets) and just prayed that it would have an effect to make him sleep but not hurt him. I held him for another hour in a bear-hug and we watched SpongeBob. Finally he quieted down and fell asleep. Probably out of sheer exhaustion, his body just shut down.
I decided he probably needed to go to the doctor because he wasn't getting any better. I doubted the flu, and I was pretty sure that it wasn't teething at this point. I thought, maybe an ear infection? But there were no other symptoms so I had no clue what to do.
Brian and I decided we would call the dr in the morning and figure out should we bring him in or not. The dr kindly said that if he had no other symptoms it wouldn't do us any good to bring him in, as he wouldn't be able to figure it out either. It was most likely teething from what we had said was going on, and he was having a temper tantrum and not a seizure or a fit. If it happens again, call him back and then we will get in.
Brian finally pried Drake's mouth open and found that he was teething. Both his top canines are coming in and he is having a lot of pain with it, I guess.
So now I will have my well deserved martini, and instead of an olive, I think I will put a Xanax in it. Because that is the kind of week I had.
On a fantastic side note: I got a refill on my magic happy pills and I am all gung-ho today and managed to do a crap ton of cleaning, cooking, and even went to the store. YAY. I'm going to go pass out now.
